Free computer recycling

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

The Hamilton County Solid Waste District is providing FREE computer recycling to residents for a limited time. You can drop off your items at the Technology Recycling Group anytime and they will reuse or recycle as much of the materials as they can. However, from March 31 to December 31st, this service will be sponsored by HCSWD and offered FREE to Hamilton County residents. Check this online flyer for details.

If you’ve upgraded computers lately, you know that getting rid of an old CRT monitor is nearly impossible. If it can be given a new life through FreeCycle or Craig’s List, that’s worth a try but many regular drop-off donation spots like Goodwill receive so many older monitors that they cannot resell them and sometimes will not accept them.

Technology Recycling Group answers the question of what to do with old electronics. They provide an outstanding service to area businesses and individuals. TRG takes great care to disassemble the equipment, destroy hard drives, and separate out any reusable or recyclable parts of your old computers. Take a look around when you drop off your old computer equipment at all that goes into recycling these materials and you will definitely think twice about the life cycle of what you buy and when you upgrade in the future.

Does the TRG accept nonworking dvd and vcr players? If not, who does, or how does one recycle them. I hate to throw them out.

Yes they do accept non-working items. They break them down in to parts that can be recycled individually.
