Is Cincinnati LEEDing?
Earlier this week, I did a search for local building projects which have been certified LEED by the US Green Building Council. There are currently 7 projects that have been certified. (Click to enlarge images)
The interesting fact is that there are over 4 times as many LEED green building projects that are in progress in Cincinnati. There are currently 29 projects which have been registered to pursue LEED certification, but have not completed the whole process.
LEED green building standards are a big deal. There is a lot of thought, effort, and special planning put into these projects. Have you seen any of the certified projects? They are impressive. Interesting, efficient, and good places to learn and work.
Green building is becoming more common in Cincinnati, but we are still a long way from it being the norm. Think of all the development projects that have been recently completed and are currently being worked in Cincinnati. 36 of those projects have been built to whether rising energy costs and respect the environment. Do you know someone starting a new building project? Encourage them to change the status quo and go green!
