Mayor’s challenge to increase recycling
Is your community recycling? The Mayor thinks you can do more.
The Mayor’s Green Recycling Plan in partnership with Rumpke is challenging communities to increase recycling. Communities that join the challenge have six month from May 15 to Nov 15 (America Recycles Day) to reach their goals. Success is worth $250 to your community.
Overall, the Mayor’s Green Recycling Plan is aiming to increase recycling in Cincinnati by 50% by 2011.
If you need a refresher on what to put in your bin, check out the list of acceptable items on Rumpke’s website.
By the way, where were the recycling bins at Taste of Cincinnati? That’s an awful lot of plastic from water, beer, and soda bottles going into the trash. Let’s encourage those planning events to consider ways to reduce the amount of waste they create. The Mayor’s challenge should extend beyond individuals and neighborhoods and to all events and facilities in and around the cities!
