Recycling in multi-family residences

Monday, August 4th, 2008

If you live in an apartment complex or other multi-family residence, there is a good chance that your recycling is not picked up with the bin that single-family residences use.

Did you know that Hamilton County Environmental Services has a program to assist you in setting up a recycling program for your multi-family residence?

When you take part in the multi-family recycling program, Hamilton County will provide you for free:

  • A consultation meeting and a customized recycling plan
  • Coordination of recycling services with your waste hauler
  • First year of your recycling contract paid
  • Education about recycling for residents

Check out the HCDOES website to setup your multi-family residence recycling program today!

The City of Cincinnati - if you live in the city limits - will provide recycling bins and recycling pick-up for FREE for multi-family housing of 9 units or less. Visit: http://www.ci.cincinnati.oh.us/pubsrv/pages/-10147-/. Unofficially, you might be able to convince them to do it for even larger buildings.

I was really interested in presenting this idea to my apartment complex, but I live in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. I am having a hard time finding anything along the lines of multi-family recycling in my area when doing searches. I think this also could be a future amenity to add to Apartment Complex lists. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
